McDowell Foundation researcher Scott Allen is facilitating a workshop on the use of graphic novels based on his study in early December. Getting Graphic: Using Graphic Novels in the Senior ELA Classroom is aimed at Grades 10-12 and is offered as part of the Saskatchewan Professional Development Unit’s (SPDU) focus on literacy. The Workshop will take place December 5, 2016 at the Federation.
The workshop provides opportunity to “Explore the graphic novel as a tool to support student engagement in learning. Founded on the McDowell research project Superhumans: How Teachers Use Graphic Novels; this workshop will have teachers discover ways to connect the graphic novel to the senior English language arts curriculum.” SPDU Professional Growth Opportunities
